Medical Proofreader

<p>This freelance role is responsible for scientific, medical and editorial review of articles and advertisements published in the Life Extension magazines, which includes identifying optimal references and studies, as well as scientifically validating to ensure the content is medically sound. Additional responsibilities include ensuring all articles and ads are in alignment with Life Extension mission, and maintain stylistic consistency.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>Responsibilities:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Corrects and rewrites sections of articles based on comments from the Scientific Affairs department to ensure medical accuracy and alignment with LE positions</li><li>Makes editorial suggestions on the best way to convey scientific information to the readership</li><li>Reviews the scientific veracity of each article and ad which includes a thorough review of all references and statements</li><li>Provides new studies and references where needed to support scientific statements in article</li><li>Reviews diagrams, photographs, charts and advertisements for medical accuracy</li><li>Ensures AMA compliance for references used</li><li>Manages editorial timelines to ensure deadlines are met</li><li>Ensures articles are in compliance with company product line</li><li>Interacts with Scientific Affairs and Product Development to review material to align with their needs</li><li>Proofreads and edits assigned all articles and ads to ensure 100% accuracy as well as stylistic and format consistency</li><li>Ensures ads and articles accurately contain all standard components including phone number, item number etc.</li><li>Updates ads for new and existing products that include specific disclaimers, pricing and ordering information</li><li>Where necessary, rewrites sentences or paragraphs lacking clarity</li><li>Updates ads according to label and content changes</li><li>Secures reprint permission for articles and graphics from other sources</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Consumer-oriented health publication experience</li><li>Advanced degree in scientific discipline required (MD, ND, DO preferred)</li><li>In depth knowledge of dietary supplements, medicine and science</li></ul>
